French Bulldog cost calculator
Heads up: we earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. That never changes what we recommend or the order we list things in. How we make money.
What these numbers can't tell you
- They aren't Frenchie-specific. Both sources report all-breed figures. Rover notes costs vary with size, breed and health conditions.
- Prices have risen. The ASPCA table is a 2021 update. Rover's 2026 figures are generally higher, which is why both are shown.
- Big vet bills aren't included. French Bulldogs are prone to breathing, skin, ear and spine problems. Insurance or an emergency fund is how most owners plan for that. Compare policies on our insurance table.
FAQ
Where do the starting numbers come from?
Each starting number is the ASPCA's published dog figure (2021 update) where the ASPCA lists one, otherwise the low end of Rover's 2026 range. The note under every line shows which, plus Rover's range. These are all-breed figures, not French Bulldog figures, and prices have risen since 2021, so replace them with your own quotes.
Why is the purchase price set to $0?
Neither source publishes a French Bulldog price, and prices vary hugely by breeder and region. Enter the price you were actually quoted. Rover's 2026 all-breed ranges are $50–$500 to adopt and $675–$4,440 from a breeder.
Is a Frenchie more expensive than an average dog?
It can be, mainly through health care. French Bulldogs are prone to breathing (BOAS), skin and ear problems, and insurance premiums are priced by breed. We don't have a sourced Frenchie-specific total, so the honest answer is: get real insurance quotes and ask your vet what they typically see. See our cost guide.

No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us.
