Maggie the Merle is an independent guide for people who live with French Bulldogs and other flat-faced dogs. Maggie's family runs it. We're owners, not veterinarians.

How we research

• Health facts come from veterinary schools, veterinary bodies, peer-reviewed research and breed clubs. Each health page lists its sources and carries a not-veterinary-advice notice.
• Product specs such as size charts come from the manufacturer's own website. If we can't verify a chart, the product stays off our tools.
• Insurance facts come from each insurer's own website. If we can't verify a fact, we leave the cell blank.
• Every data page shows a "last checked" date. We recheck tools and tables at least every quarter.

How we compare products

Unless a page says Maggie has used something, the comparison is based on published specs, not hands-on testing. We don't publish made-up reviews, star ratings or testimonials.

Money and independence

We may earn commissions from some links (see our affiliate disclosure). Commissions don't decide what we include or the order we list it in. Sponsored listings are always labeled, and nobody can pay to change the Fit Finder or the insurance table.
